Designer options for everyone!
Last week I made a last minute decision about a dress rental for a quickly approaching wedding. I have used Rent the Runway about 5 other times for special occasions (including the bridesmaids dresses for our wedding)! Of course I couldn’t make a decision solo, so I posted the following poll on Facebook about my potential dress rental- A was the overwhelming winner! I decided to go for it. See my review below!
My Dress Rental Review of the Trina Turk- Blue Ceiba Dress:
The fit: I am in between sizes and the smaller size wasn’t available so I went with the larger size. It was a little loose so I would recommend sizing down. I think the larger size made my waist look a little big (my small waist is my best feature, haha) so I tried to pin it (with little success). I think it was a little tighter I could have gone sans bra, but I went with a strapless.
The look: This is a classic A-line dress and flattering to my figure (kind of pear, kind of hour glass). It has a plunging-V neckline. I will say that the outer layer (eyelet fabric) is pretty structured and flares out away from the body/doesn’t lay flat. It took a little bit of getting used to, but I liked the look overall. I felt like this dress was a sassy but classy look and perfect for a backyard desert wedding.
Considering a dress rental of your own?
What to expect:
The RTR website is a pretty user-friendly website. You can filter by color, length, trend, size, and occasion. I highly recommend including your desired date and zip code in your filter so that you’re only viewing options you could actually get for your occasion.
How to pick:
Read the customer reviews, they are super helpful and include photos! You can also add a free back up size. Seriously this is the best. Warning: if you order too late (like I did this week) your backup size may not be available.
You choose your delivery date for your dress rental (1-2 days before your event) and choose 4-day or 8-day rental (4 for a weekend event, 8 if you’re going on vacation). Warning: they charge quite a bit more for Saturday delivery ($35!!) so plan ahead to avoid that.
To return: simply place the items in the provided packaging (with pre-paid label) and drop at UPS.
What if I damage the dress?
The $5 insurance fee covers most mishaps (normal wear and tear).
What if it doesn’t fit?
They have great customer service and will help you come up with a solution.
