Well, honestly, this piece was originally an IKEA fail but in my opinion, we turned it into an “IKEA Hack” and our very own custom IKEA armoire.
My husband and I purchased this PAX Wardrobe to put in our closet for additional shelving, but unfortunately we didn’t have the forethought to pre-measure our space and did not anticipate that adding these shelves would actually block the built in shelves we already had–oops. But, the thing was already assembled and anyone who knows IKEA furniture knows that in itself is a win. So, despite my protest, “we” decided it would reside in our bedroom, in plain sight (not the original plan). We had already spent $325 on this bad boy (not TOO bad for a piece that big), but I’d be damned if we were going to spend another $80-$280 on doors. SO, we moved the clothes rail up to the top, stuck some Target peel and stick wallpaper on the back and created this custom IKEA armoire! I still want to hem the curtains, eventually. I actually ended up like this IKEA armoire version better than our original plan!
I used an old rake for necklace storage and three bottles to hold my bangles
We splurged on the glass shelf and glass-front drawer because I wanted something extra pretty for my unmentionables- haha!
We purchased the 79″ PAX system– you can create your PAX system on IKEA.com
